TNA with Practical AI-Assisted Applications

INTRODUCTION

How can organisations ensure that training addresses the right performance gaps rather than simply filling the annual training calendar? How can HR and department managers decide which training needs are most important when budgets, time and resources are limited? Effective Training Needs Analysis (TNA) provides a structured approach for identifying the knowledge, skills and capability requirements necessary to support organisational objectives and employee performance. A good TNA goes beyond collecting training requests. It examines business priorities, job requirements, performance gaps, competency requirements and workplace challenges before determining whether training is actually the appropriate solution.

This practical 2-day programme takes participants through the complete process from needs identification and gap analysis to strategic training planning and implementation. Participants will learn how to conduct TNA at organisational, departmental/job and individual levels using performance data, interviews, surveys, observation, competency information and other workplace evidence. They will also learn to differentiate between training and non-training causes of performance problems, preventing unnecessary expenditure on training that may not solve the underlying issue.

The programme further covers training prioritisation, development of training matrices and annual training plans, budgeting, scheduling, implementation responsibilities and coordination with internal or external training providers. Participants will also learn how to establish appropriate learning objectives and evaluation measures so that training effectiveness can be reviewed against expected outcomes. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will develop a systematic approach for transforming identified training needs into focused, realistic and business-aligned development actions.
