Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

02nov(nov 2)9:00 am03(nov 3)5:00 pmTotal Productive Maintenance (TPM)2 DAYS PROGRAM (MON & TUE) VENUE: JAZZ HOTEL, PENANG

Event Details

COURSE OVERVIEW

How much productive capacity is being lost through recurring breakdowns, minor stoppages, reduced operating speed, defects and lengthy equipment adjustments? Are production operators and maintenance personnel working together to prevent equipment deterioration, or mainly responding after failures occur?

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a company-wide approach that maximises equipment effectiveness by involving management, production, maintenance, engineering and supporting functions in the prevention of equipment-related losses. It moves organisations beyond reactive maintenance by establishing shared ownership of equipment condition, systematic maintenance strategies and continuous improvement practices.

This two-day programme provides participants with a practical understanding of the eight pillars of TPM, the Six Big Equipment Losses and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Particular emphasis is placed on Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance and Focused Improvement. Participants will learn how to recognise accelerated deterioration, conduct cleaning as inspection, establish cleaning, inspection and lubrication standards, select appropriate maintenance strategies and analyse recurring equipment failures.

The programme also introduces current maintenance practices such as equipment criticality assessment, condition-based and predictive maintenance, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), equipment-performance dashboards and AI-assisted analysis of maintenance information. These tools support better decisions but do not replace proper inspection, reliable data, technical knowledge or basic equipment conditions. Through equipment-loss analysis, OEE calculations, case studies, maintenance-planning exercises and implementation workshops, participants will develop practical actions to reduce breakdowns, improve reliability and strengthen cooperation between production and maintenance. Each participant will prepare a structured TPM action plan that can be adapted to a selected machine, production line or operational area.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

√ Explain the principles, objectives and eight pillars of Total Productive Maintenance.

√ Differentiate TPM from conventional maintenance practices.

√ Identify the Six Big Equipment Losses affecting operational performance.

√ Calculate and interpret Overall Equipment Effectiveness.

√ Apply Autonomous Maintenance principles and operator-care practices.

√ Select suitable corrective, preventive, condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies.

√ Use MTBF, MTTR and equipment-loss data to evaluate reliability and maintainability.

√ Analyse recurring failures and develop effective countermeasures.

√ Explain how CMMS, sensor data, dashboards and AI can support maintenance decisions.

√ Develop a practical roadmap for implementing and sustaining TPM.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This programme is suitable for maintenance and engineering managers, facilities managers, production or operations managers, maintenance planners and supervisors, plant or factory managers, and senior technical staff responsible for equipment reliability and maintenance performance.

COURSE BENEFITS

This training equips organisations to reduce equipment depreciation, prevent unexpected machinery failures, optimise maintenance resources, and improve asset reliability, resulting in lower operating costs, reduced downtime, and stronger operational performance.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

The programme uses interactive presentations, case studies, facilitated discussions, equipment-loss analysis, OEE calculations, individual and group exercises, maintenance-strategy selection activities, problem-solving exercises and TPM implementation planning.

TRAINING DURATION

Full 2 day training (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
