Event Details

COURSE OVERVIEW

How long could your operations continue if a critical supplier stopped delivering tomorrow? A single disruption can quickly lead to material shortages, production stoppages, delayed customer orders, emergency freight costs, contractual penalties and lost revenue. Yet many organisations only discover the true weaknesses in their supply chains after disruption has occurred when alternative suppliers, transport capacity and recovery options are already limited.

Malaysian organisations operate within highly interconnected regional and global supply networks, often relying on imported materials, overseas suppliers, cross-border logistics and lean inventory levels. Supplier failure, geopolitical tensions, port congestion, cyberattacks, extreme weather, regulatory changes and sudden demand shifts can therefore affect business operations almost immediately. Supply chain resilience is no longer solely a procurement or logistics concern; it is a critical business capability requiring coordinated action across the organisation.

This two-day programme helps participants move beyond reactive firefighting by providing a structured approach to identifying, assessing and managing supply chain risks. Participants will learn to map critical dependencies, identify single points of failure, evaluate supplier and third-party exposure, prioritise risks and establish practical early-warning indicators. They will also explore supplier diversification, alternative sourcing and logistics routes, inventory strategies, contingency planning, stress testing and supply chain Business Continuity Planning (BCP). Through realistic disruption scenarios, case discussions and guided workshops, participants will develop a supply chain risk map, prioritised risk register, basic supply chain continuity framework and practical resilience action plan for application within their organisations. By the end of the programme, they will be better equipped to anticipate disruption, make faster and more informed decisions, protect operational continuity and strengthen supply chain recovery capabilities.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

√ Explain how supply chain disruptions can affect production, customer delivery, operating costs, revenue and business continuity.

√ Map critical suppliers, materials, logistics routes and operational dependencies to identify potential single points of failure.

√ Identify and categorise supplier, operational, financial, geopolitical, regulatory, cyber and climate-related supply chain risks.

√ Assess and prioritise risks according to their likelihood, business impact and potential disruption severity.

√ Evaluate supplier and third-party vulnerabilities using practical risk-assessment tools and indicators.

√ Establish relevant early-warning indicators, escalation triggers and monitoring responsibilities.

√ Develop suitable risk-mitigation and contingency strategies, including alternative suppliers, sourcing options, logistics routes and inventory controls.

√ Apply disruption scenarios and stress-testing techniques to evaluate existing response and recovery arrangements.

√ Develop a basic supply chain Business Continuity Plan covering critical dependencies, response responsibilities, alternative arrangements, communication, escalation and recovery priorities.

√ Prepare a prioritised supply chain resilience action plan with clear actions, responsibilities and implementation timelines.
