Event Details

INTRODUCTION

How confident is your organisation that its internal audits are identifying real quality, product safety and operational risks, rather than simply checking documents and procedures? In the aviation, space and defence industry, effective internal auditing plays an important role in ensuring process conformity, product integrity, customer satisfaction and continual improvement. AS9100D (9100:2016) remains the current Quality Management System standard for aviation, space and defence organisations. Building upon ISO 9001 requirements, it introduces industry-specific requirements covering areas such as operational risk management, product safety, configuration management, counterfeit parts prevention, traceability, special processes and control of externally provided products and services.

This practical 2-day Internal Auditor Training is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and auditing techniques required to conduct effective AS9100D internal audits. It is suitable for new auditors requiring a structured foundation as well as existing auditors seeking to refresh and strengthen their aerospace auditing competency. Participants will learn how to interpret key AS9100D requirements, apply the process approach and risk-based thinking, prepare audit plans and checklists, conduct interviews, follow audit trails, gather objective evidence and evaluate process effectiveness. The programme also covers identifying and writing meaningful nonconformities and following up corrective actions.

Audit practices will be aligned with the latest ISO 19011:2026 Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems, which strengthens guidance relating to risk, technology, digitalisation and modern auditing environments. Through practical exercises, case discussions and audit simulations, participants will develop greater confidence to conduct structured, evidence-based and value-added AS9100D internal audits that support compliance, risk reduction and continual improvement.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this 2-day workshop, participants will be able to: –
